Improv Troupe, Available Cupholders, Returns To Sarasota For Special Residency
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) has announced that Sarasota Improv Festival favorites, Available Cupholders, will return to the Gulf Coast the first weekend of June for a special residency. The Austin and Los Angeles-based improv comedy group is known for performing shows that combine Theater and Improvisation, frequently in formats that are challenging and ever-changing.
Big Bang Improv Returns to Sarasota for Special Residency
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) has announced that Big Bang Improv, a Sarasota Improv Festival favorite, will return to Sarasota the first weekend of January 2020 for a special residency. During their time at FST, the group will perform two improv comedy shows and lead two workshops. Big Bang performances will take place on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 at 7:30PM in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre. Tickets are just $15-18 and can be purchased at floridastudiotheatre.org or (941) 366-9000. Improv workshops will be held on January 4 and enrollment is just $35. Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra opened the 134th Spring Pops season with a 50th anniversary tribute to the watershed events of the summer of 1969, two stunning short films, a homegrown astronaut, and a celestial Broadway legend. Commencing with the 'Opening Fanfare' from Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra (the theme used in '2001: A Space Odyssey'), and concluding with the Pops' signature song, John Philip Sousa's 'The Stars and Stripes Forever,' the two selections bookended the program that took us to the moon, to the past, and to the Great White Way.
