Cast and Creatives Announced for September Festival at Tempe Center for the Arts
Twenty-six actors, six directors, four stage managers, and more creatives have been hired for The Bechdel Test Fest, September 9th & 10th, co-produced by The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre and Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway,Tempe AZ 85281. The two-day festival prominently features play readings from Arizona playwrights, but also includes screenings of films from Arizona filmmakers, as well as discussions and workshops.

The Bechdel Test Fest is offerings include a panel discussion, play readings, film screenings, children's workshops, music, and more! Plays and films from Arizona playwrights and filmmakers were selected by a panel of adjudicators and all pass the Bechdel Test: Two female-identifying characters who have a conversation with each other about something other than a man.
TST to Host 9th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival Opening Night Reception

Gibson joined Department of Education officials and anti-hunger advocate organizations to kick off New York City's FREE summer meals program, promote summer meal site locations and reward children with Yankee game tickets for making healthy choices.
Yara Arts Group Brings FIRE. WATER. NIGHT. to La MaMa, Now thru 6/16
'Fire. Water. Night' by Yara Arts Group adapts spring and summer rituals into a World Music Theater piece that moves throughout the lobby, risers and playing areas of La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, reveling in the imagery of the spring thaw, of awakening forests and of midsummer fire rituals. The work, conceived and directed by Virlana Tkacz, interweaves performances in English and Ukrainian, including fragments of Lesya Ukrainka's verse drama, 'Forest Song,' poetry from Native American, Canadian and American authors, dance and song. It features a score by electronic music composer Alla Zagaykevych, traditional ritual songs from Ukraine and raucous dance music by Toronto's Lemon Bucket Orkestra. La Mama E.T.C. will present the work tonight, June 7 to 16. The experience is highly visual and musical and is completely accessible to all audiences.
Arizona Theatre Company's Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein Resigns
Arizona Theatre Company announced today that David Ira Goldstein, ATC's Artistic Director since 1992, will be leaving the Company in December of 2013. In his 21 seasons as artistic director, Goldstein led the Company to unprecedented levels of attendance, critical acclaim, community support, educational outreach and national prominence. During his tenure, he produced over 200 plays, workshops, readings and presentations in Phoenix and Tucson, while personally directing more than 40 mainstage productions ranging from classics to new plays to musicals.

Los dos espectáculos, con Marc Vilavella en la dirección y Marc Sambola en la dirección musical, se representarán los días 24, 25 y 26 de agosto (Le llaman copla no tendrá función el día 26), en el Teatre de Ponent de Granollers.
