Science Channel to Premiere New Series RICHARD HAMMOND'S 'BIG'
Award-winning British car aficionado, presenter and host, Richard Hammond, is steering his way over to Science Channel for an epic new 9-part series, Richard Hammond's BIG, premiering Wednesday, February 12 at 10 p.m. Buckle up as Hammond once again takes viewers on the ride of their lives to spotlight engineering at its finest with the biggest structures in the world. With decades' worth of knowledge in all things motor, science, adrenaline, engineering and more, Hammond embarks on a global adventure – from the UK to the USA and beyond – to explore the planet's biggest structures and machines and the incredible ways engineers have supersized our world.
John Eliot Gardiner & MCO's Apprentices Program Welcomes Young String Players
The Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras (MCO)'s innovative Monteverdi Apprentices Programme offers emergent young string players the opportunity to perform, tour, and train with the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique (ORR) and John Eliot Gardiner next season. Up to eight successful applicants will be fully integrated into the period-instrument orchestra's 2019-20 schedule, performing alongside the ORR in concerts at home and on tour in a wide range of repertoire, as well as receiving dedicated coaching, workshops, and mentorship. As a primary focus of the yearlong program, the young apprentices will perform complete Beethoven symphonic cycles with Gardiner and the orchestra at prominent destinations, including London's Barbican Hall and Barcelona's Palau de la Musica. After completing the program, the apprentices will be considered for further professional engagements with the ORR. The Red Barn a new play by David Hare, based on the novel, La Main, by Georges Simenon opens in the Lyttelton Theatre on 6 October (press night 17 October). The great detective writer Georges Simenon escaped France at the end of World War Two, and arrived in the USA to start again. With his American wife, he settled at Shadow Rock Farm in Lakeville, Connecticut. Years later, he wrote La Main, a psychological thriller set in a New England farmhouse.
Piliot Theatre to Bring ANTIGONE to Exeter Northcott Theatre
Following the critical success of his recent plays Kingston 14 at Theatre Royal Stratford East and Pilot Theatre's touring production of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, the acclaimed and award-winning playwright Roy Williams is once again set to join forces with York-based Pilot Theatre, this time to bring Sophocles' Antigone up to date in a bold new contemporary version of the classic Greek tragedy that will be relevant to today's audiences.
Roy Williams' ANTIGONE to Tour UK Beginning in September
Directed by Pilot Theatre's Artistic Director Marcus Romer and co-produced with Derby Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East, Antigone will premiere in Derby on the 19 September, where it plays until 4 October before touring nationally until 29 November. The production will then open in London at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 19 February 2015.
