BWW Review: LAVA, Soho Theatre
When Lava was first staged, at the Nottingham Playhouse in 2018, its central plot point of an asteroid hitting North London and causing thousands of casualties may have seemed implausible - over-dramatic, even. Now remounted at the Soho Theatre as we move out of a global pandemic, these themes of loss, and of solidarity in the face of unprecedented tragedy, feel very different.
Casting Announced For A CHRISTMAS CAROL at the Old Vic
The Old Vic has announced the casting for Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic A Christmas Carol, joyously adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol returns with a live audience on 24 November, with previews from 13 November.

In a journey begun at Southwark Playhouse right before the pandemic hit our stages, Jonathan O’Boyle’s production of Jason Robert Brown’s beloved musical has redefined the piece itself to the point where now there probably isn’t a purest way to make the show.

THE LAST FIVE YEARS to Open at the Garrick Theatre in September
Jason Robert Brown’s Drama Desk Award-winning musical, The Last Five Years, will now be opening at the larger Garrick Theatre for an extended limited season, previewing from 17 September, with an opening night on Thursday 23 September and now running until 17 October 2021.
MAGGIE & TED Will Be Performed at the Garrick Theatre Next Week
Maggie & Ted is a highly acclaimed comedy-drama which lifts the lid on the rivalry between two formidable political figures from the same party. The West End début follows a hugely successful sell-out run at the White Bear Theatre in Kennington in 2019 and is the first political play to debut in the West End post lockdown.
