OSAYANDE BARUTI is also the original performer-producer-conceiver of the successful Las Vegas show HISTORY of ROCK & ROLL Revue for Frank Sinatra’s CAL-NEVA CASINO & HOTEL in Lake Tahoe, Nevada AND the solo Vocalist for the NIGHT OF NEW POWER which was at NYC’s CARNEGIE HALL starring his good Friend, the inimitable Bassist JAMAALADEEN TACUMA plus as guest Vocalist for the“English-Speaking” WESTIN Room in Shanghai, China.
BARUTI, an eclectic American “Triple-Threat”Performer-Vocalist/ Playwright-Composer/ Choreographer-Director / Motivational Trainer/ Corporate Arts & Television CEO has created & composed 7 original, full-length produced Musicals which have been viewed and loved by Audiences all over the USA and abroad!

BARUTI’S Film Performances includes His role as CRIPUS ATTUCKS in OSCAR-winner JOHN HUSTON’S historical drama film short about our “signing of the American Constitution” entitled INDEPENDENCE which plays in Philadelphia daily; His Co-Star role in SILENT, BUT DEADLY, a fun, Cold War Spy comedy about a “Funky-Smelling Nuke” and the Co-Star of HBO’s Film comedy on “Consumer Rip-Offs” titled SATISFACTION GUARANTEED as both were produced & directed by Philly’s own talented LARRY BROWN!

In 1993, BARUTI’S first TV Series he created and starred in TRIP W CITY ADVENTURES was picked up by DISNEY at its Burbank studios for their new, CHILDRENS CABLE network!

BARUTI has written 7 original full-length musicals & over 200 songs; 4 cabaret revues; 1 childrens’ TV series, 1 Feature Film, 5 Audio-Book Biographies and produced 3 beloved, best seller CD Tributes on NAT King COLE titled “UNFORGETTABLE IN HONOLULU”, “THE CROONER” - a tribute to The RAT PACK and an ISAAC HAYES concert tribute titled “BLACK MOSES Is ALIVE and WELL”.

BARUTI’S most successful production of his original musicals-to-date is the rousing, hit gospel adaptation for San Diego Repertory’s production of Charles Dickens’ novel A CHRISTMAS CAROL GOSPEL ACCORDING TO DICKENS hailed “EXUBERANT ”-by the Los Angeles TIMES Critics and ran for 2 “Back-to-Back” sold-Out XMAS Seasons!
BARUTI’S remaining original, full-length musicals are STARS WITH NO STRIPES (Harlem's APOLLO Theater), his hit Revue titled BLAZMATAZZ - Best of Black Film Musicals (WINNER of 1st New Jersey State THEATER FESTIVAL and Philly's KOPIA DINNER Theatre) and a 2nd musical adaptation of Dickens’ classic novel TALE OF TWO CITIES, that premiered to SRO audiences in Burbank, CA.

OSAYANDE’S career begins on the East Coast as ACTOR while attending West Philadelphia’s coveted, music-magnet OVERBROOK HIGH SCHOOL in the National tour musical WAKE UP MAN AND LIVE! produced by DAN PERNA of Cabrini College on PHILLY’S MAIN LINE county AND as a graduate of the darling SOCIETY HILL PLAYHOUSE on Philly’s artful South Street!

BARUTI received outstanding TV & News interviews when He was chosen to be the 1st African-American professional Featured Actor working for the Philadelphia DRAMA GUILD / ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY of LONDON’S hit production TWELFTH NIGHT starring Tony Winner PAXTON WHITEHEAD and the premiere drama about the life of amazing Civil Rights activist and Founder of C.O.R.E. - Mr. JAMES FORMAN - entitled THE LAST FEW DAYS OF MR. WILLIE CALENDAR starring Tony winner IRA HAWKINS and the late, great Broadway / Film stars LOUISE TROY & JIM REBHORNE while becoming Co-Founder of Philly's STAGE EAST REPERTORY with ARTS pioneers ROBERT & VERNA HIGHTOWER!

BARUTI’S career highlights continued with his becoming the 1st African American Director, Performer & Choreographer for the popular music venue of WESTBURY, NY. & VALLEY FORGE, PA. Gruber & Gross’ MUSIC FAIRS Childrens Theater where such recording giants as DIANA ROSS, PAUL ANKA, THE O’JAYS, GLADYS KNIGHT & other top BillBoard Acts performed every single, summer giving BARUTI a wonderful chance to hangout and learn “CRAFT” from them All!

BARUTI honed his “Down-Front, Rat-Pack” entertaining STYLE from 2 Tap-Dancing “Geniuses”- the high-flying HAROLD NICHOLAS of MGM Films’ NICHOLAS BROTHERS who starred in BARUTI’S Revue BLAZMATAZZ - a musical tribute to Black American Cinema - that played at his TUI Company And the multi-talented GREGORY HINES of Broadway’s dazzling HINES BROTHERS when BARUTI was cast as star GREGORY’S understudy in the Broadway production of CHRISTMAS COMIN’ UPTOWN co-starring fellow Philly Actress CAROLE MAILLARD of famed vocal ensemble HONEY-In-The-ROCK!

BARUTI had been chosen by founder Emily D. GUNTER as the President of her proposed Atlantic City venue - OUT OF AFRICA CASINO & HOTEL and as the 1st Artistic DIRECTOR by Arts entrepreneur CLARENCE ALI-LILLY of the famed Actors Equity’s THEATER OF UNIVERSAL IMAGES (TUI) in Newark, New Jersey where popular actors JOHN AMOS & ESTER ROLLE - both Stars of the hit TV Series GOOD TIMES and Emmy-nominee ELLA JOYCE of the wonderful TV Series ROC and OSCAR nominated actor GLYNN TURMAN all first worked with BARUTI at TUI in its heydays!

A career & life move (with his daughter NAYA) to the West Coast saw BARUTI become a successful, featured performer hired by the diversified SAN DIEGO REPERTORY THEATER for their productions of NYC’s Shakespeare Festival hit MERCHANT OF VENICE and their award-winning Cast drama SPUNK starring the co-star of TV’s original, Emmy pleaser ROOTS - the dynamic RENN WOODS; the (almost) Oscar-nominated & beautiful Film actress APRIL GRACE and 2-X Grammy BLUES Americana winner -the electrifying guitarist KEB’ MO!

Next, BARUTI was Cast as Featured Performer and Choreographer for the West Coast tour of the Tony-nominated BROADWAY musical, IT AIN'T NOTHING BUT THE BLUES starring Grammy winner GREGORY PORTER, the sultry, Drama Desk-nominee ELOISE LAWS and BARUTI’S close friend Tony-nominee & Co-Creator, the late RON TAYLOR!
