BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Broadway veteran Elizabeth Josephine 'Jo' Sullivan Loesser passed away yesterday, April 28, from heart failure in her New York City Home. She was 91 years old.

Music Director Leon Botstein to Honor Richard Strauss' 150th Anniversary at ASO Opening Celebration, 10/15

Few marriages in classical music have been more mused upon than that of Richard and Pauline Strauss. Despite her disappointment with her own musical career, and her famously sharp-tongued barbs that were frequently directed at Strauss himself and remarked upon by the likes of Thomas Beecham and Alma Mahler, the marriage not only endured but was a rock for them both. At Strauss's funeral, Pauline fell to her knees in racking cries. With all the many celebrations of Strauss's 150th anniversary in 2014, ASO music director Leon Botstein shines a light upon this central theme in the composer's life, and in his music.

Ludovic Morlot, music director of the Seattle Symphony, returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall on Thursday, January 24, at 8:00PM, Friday, January 25, at 11:00AM and Saturday, January 26, at 8:00 PM to conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Beethoven's 5th Symphony. The program also features pianist Emanuel Ax performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25, K. 503.
