Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Klea Blackhurst, Erin Markey & More to Join THE MEETING* in Honoring Ethel Merman, 1/18
The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater on Sunday, January 18 at 9:30 PM to open the Winter/Spring 2015 Season. The Meeting* has been called 'delicious and delightfully droll' by The New York Post and 'hilarious and sardonic' by The Village Voice. A story for Slate.com called the evening 'so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight.' The Fall 2014 shows sold out after a New York Times 'Arts & Leisure' piece ran in September. The January show will include a tribute to Broadway legend Ethel Merman, with special guests Klea Blackhurst, Erin Markey, Nora Mae Lyng, Molly Pope and Ben Rimalower. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.

BAREFOOT BOY WITH CHEEK Recording with Jenn Colella, Max von Essen & Robert Lenzi Set for Free Digital Download
UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), in a collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will record three songs from the little-known 1947 musical comedy Barefoot Boy With Cheek featuring performances by Jenn Colella (Chaplin, Closer Than Ever), Max von Essen(Evita, Death Takes a Holiday) and Robert Lenzi (South Pacific, Hello Again). UMC's recordings will be released for free digital download on the New York Public Library's website as part of its Musical of the Month blog series, which recently featured UMC's reconstruction of the Barefoot Boy libretto. The musical has never received a cast album.

On Saturday, March 9, noted arranger and producer, Fred Barton, whose work is heard regularly in concert halls around the country, is celebrating composer Jule Styne on the Schimmel stage. With the scores of such Broadway classics as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, Gypsy and Funny Girl to his credit, composer Jule Styne ranks as one of the undisputed architects of the American musical theater. In addition to his legendary work in the theater Styne has also made Academy Award-winning contributions to the American Hollywood songbook writing songs for films such as Anchors Aweigh,Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Funny Girl, Funny Lady and Three Coins in a Fountain.

The show, which opened last night, September 6, will run for a limited engagement through January 6, 2013. This production will mark Forbidden Broadway's 30th Anniversary, as well as its 21st edition.
