BWW Review: BRING IT ON! Brings Down the House at Cultural Arts Playhouse
As the sport of cheerleading has evolved, it has gained respect for the sheer athleticism involved in performing complicated routines. The Cultural Arts Playhouse's latest production of a?oeBring it On!a?? is living proof of this. The cast is filled with quadruple threats who not only belt out musical numbers, act both dramatic and comedic scenes, and perform a variety of dance styles, but also fly through the air executing impressive cheer stunts.
BWW Review: 'We Think You're Gonna Like It Here' - CM Performing Arts Center's ANNIE
If you're looking to enjoy some holiday cheer in the comfort of a toasty theater look no further than the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center's production of the family favorite 'Annie.' Lavish sets by the masterful Patrick Grossman, a spacious house with a majority of plush red seats and some of the best talent on the island - this production is nothing less than you would expect from this company. Although there are multiple other companies also producing 'Annie' this season I must say this would be quite difficult to top.
BWW Review: GREASE at Noel S. Ruiz Theatre
The Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys have claimed their turf at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre in Oakdale through May 7 in a delightfully nostalgic production of "Grease."
BWW Review: SISTER ACT at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre is fabulous, baby!
I am a longtime fan of Whoopi Goldberg with the Sister Act movies ranking as some of my all-time favorites. So, as you can imagine, I am thoroughly excited to again see the musical adaptation now playing at Long Island's Noel Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC). This lively production, kicking off their 40th season, runs through March 25th at the Oakdale venue.
BWW Review: HAIRSPRAY at Smithtown Performing Arts Centre
Of the many productions that will come and go of the Tony award winning musical Hairspray, the incarnation at the Smithtown Performing Arts Center is incredibly enjoyable. Running through August 28th under the excellent direction of Long Island theatre vet Jordan Hue, the talented cast will leave you singing the Marc Shaiman/Scott Wittman score for weeks. To add, the book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan will indeed stand the test of time as we progress towards full equality at every level.
