Mumford and Sons to Receive John Steinbeck Award at Bing Concert Hall
Stanford Live and the Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies at SJSU are excited to announce a special event honoring Mumford and Sons, the 2019 recipient of the John Steinbeck Award. The award ceremony features a conversation with the band members as well as an acoustic performance at Bing Concert Hall on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30 pm. Public onsale begins Friday, August 9.
11th Annual Bushwick Film Festival Set To Take Place October 10-14
The Bushwick Film Festival (BFF) has announced the full program for their 11th annual run. This year's Opening Night will be sponsored by Spectrum and kicks off on Wednesday,October 10th with a Red Carpet Reception and screening at House of Yes. The festivities will continue through Sunday,October 14th, with 40+ events ranging from feature and short film screenings to special events, parties and panels. Former Nickelodeon Exec Marjorie Cohn To Lead DreamWorks' New Television Efforts
DreamWorks Animation (DWA) has named children's programming leader and former Nickelodeon executive Marjorie Cohn as its first-ever Head of Television, overseeing the production and development for DreamWorks Animation's television efforts. A 26-year veteran of Nickelodeon, Cohn most recently held the role of President, Content Development, completing a Nickelodeon tenure during which she was engaged in the development, creation and production of some of the most successful children's programs in television history including SpongeBob Squarepants, Rugrats, iCarly, and the Kids' Choice Awards. With Cohn's contributions, Nickelodeon grew to be the number one cable broadcaster in the world.

Sal Polisi will tell you he's gone from "racketeer to raconteur" and, indeed, he has. His one-man show, At The Sinatra Club, is unscripted but very, very interesting. He is, in fact, a highly skilled raconteur and he performed his show Sunday at Las Vegas' Clark County Library. The audience of 315 people was totally involved, responding to Polisi's words as if he were conversing with them individually.
