NICK RYAN is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist and co-artistic director of the Coldharts, an international touring theatre company that creates ensemble-devised, music-theatre inspired by the American Gothic. He has co-created and produced four new musicals with the Coldharts: THE LEGEND OF WHITE WOMAN CREEK, a one-woman folk opera, EDGAR ALLAN (Best Show, Oralndo Fringe 2016) and EDDIE POE, each a stand-alone, one-act musical adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe short story, "William Wilson," and THE UNREPENTANT NECROPHILE, a three-person, punk rock opera about a mortician and her body. Nick is a founding member and resident playwright of Four Humors Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has written seven shows with the company including CANDIDE, MORTEM CAPIENDUM, and HAROLD. As a playwright with Split Knuckle Theatre, Nick collaborated in the creation of ENDURANCE, which premiered during the 2010 Connecticut Repertory Theater Nutmeg Summer Series, and has since toured the world performing in New York City, London, Paris, Maastricht, Athens and Bangkok. His most recent collaboration with Split Knuckle, THE BAND OF THE BLACK HAND, a noir, shadow puppetry piece, premiered at Connecticut Repertory Theatre in March 2015. In the Spring of 2012 he collaborated with the company, 3 Sticks, on PAPER PLANE, a music theater piece developed in residency at One Arm Red in Brooklyn, and performed at the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival. He graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with a BA in Theater Arts, where he was the two time recipient of the Arthur Ballet Award for Playwriting. Nick currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
