State Arts Council to Honor New Jersey Artists
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts held its first public meeting of 2018 today at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. The unique facility is home to a growing number of active artist studios, exhibition spaces, arts organizations, and more, and served as the perfect backdrop for the Council's announcement of this year's Artist Fellowship awards.
SOPAC and SOMA Film Festival Nominated for People's Choice Awards

SOMA Film Festival, co-produced by SOPAC, is nominated for Favorite Film Festival. Now in its ninth year, the annual awards program run by Discover Jersey Arts pays tribute to the work of New Jersey's vital, vibrant and diverse arts organizations. With the ballots now prepped, it's time for arts lovers across the state to vote for their favorite local arts organizations.
New Jersey State Council on the Arts Honors Morris Arts
On July 21, 2105, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded more than $15.7 million in grant funding for over 700 arts organizations, projects and artists throughout the state. The awards were announced at the New Jersey State Council on the Arts' 49th annual Meeting held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Trenton. Of those 700, only 42 organizations and projects received the highest evaluations from the panel reviewing the applications and, for the 18th consecutive year, Morris Arts was among that highly select company, recognized with a Citation of Excellence and the designation as a Major Service Organization "for their history of excellence, the breadth of their impact and their longstanding leadership." In addition, Morris Arts was awarded $103,080 for its local arts grant program and an additional $5,000 for its co-sponsored project/artist career development workshop.
MPAC, NJ Ballet and NJSO to Collaborate on THE NUTCRACKER in December
New Jersey Ballet's 45th anniversary season presentation of the holiday classic Nutcracker will feature musical accompaniment by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. The collaboration marks the first time that MPAC, New Jersey's leading ballet company and symphony orchestra have worked together to present the seasonal favorite in Morristown.
Arts Council Honors Twenty New Jersey Artists
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts held its first regular meeting of 2015 yesterday at the Mayo Performing Arts Center which provided a fitting backdrop for the Council's 18th Annual Artists Roundtable. The event featured New Jersey artists of all disciplines who convened and exchanged information on a host of important issues of particular interest to individual artists in the state.

Natasha Vargas Wins 2014 NJ Poetry Out Loud State Finals
Natasha Vargas, a senior from Lawrence High School, was named State Champion at the 2014 NJ Poetry Out Loud State Finals competition, part of the national poetry recitation program. The state finals took place today at Victoria Theater at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Ms. Vargas will move on to represent New Jersey in the national finals in Washington, DC in April to compete against 52 champions from every state and territory, all vying for the national title and the chance to win prizes including college scholarships.
