Jeff Schell and The Habit’s A Very Die Hard Christmas opens December 10, 2023 at Theatre 40. Celebrating the film’s 35th anniversary, Sandro Monetti directs this musical parody with the cast of Nick Versteeg, Lauren Samuels, Jesse Merlin, Raymund King, Nick Bredosky, and Theatre 40 favorites Roslyn Cohn, Joe Clabby and Kristal Dickerson. HRS Productions and Orgasmico’s Exorcistic: The Unauthorized Rock Musical Parody of The Exorcist has taken up residence at Three Clubs in Hollywood playing Fridays and Saturdays through September 22, 2023. This original rock musical co-directed by Chadd McMillan and Alli Miller-Fisher, features book, lyrics and music by Michael Shaw Fisher. Camal Pugh choreographed the triple-threat cast of: Nick Bredosky, Brian Logan Dales, Kim Dalton, Frankie Grande, Emma Hunton, Mitchell Gerrard Johnson, Janaya Mahealani Jones, Jesse Merlin, Michael Shaw Fisher, Leigh Wullf and Gabby Sanalitro. Rotating Diva guests include: Carly Jibson, Garret Clayton, Jeff Sumner, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Elle Deran, Matt Shively and Brendan Hunt. Jennifer's Body: The Unauthorized Musical From Hell, based on the 20th Century Fox film starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Chris Pratt, debuts at El Cid beginning Thursday, March 1st. Adapted for the stage by Jordan Ross (Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical Experience, The Unauthorized OC Musical) and directed by Joey Bybee, Diablo Cody's cult classic about a small-town girl turned evil succubus raises even more hell on stage with an early 2000s pop/rock soundtrack in this unauthorized campy send-up. (And, the show obviously includes Low Shoulder's Through The Trees because Low Shoulder are American heroes and we need them now more them ever.)

After Hours Theatre has produced a kick-ass production of Jonathan Larson's TICK, TICK... BOOM!. Rebecca Kenigsberg astutely directs her ultra-talented cast of three at a quick, proficient pace wringing out all possible laughs and pathos out of Larson's autobiographical piece. Any theatre lover with an affinity to Larson's RENT will thoroughly enjoy the gone-too-soon skills of Larson's sharp lyrics, book and hummable tunes.
