Nick Auer is a Brooklyn-based director, theatre-maker, sound designer, and performer. His work pursues different relationships between audiences and live performance. He is Co-Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Brouhaha Theatre Project, with Max Pendergast. He co-directed Brouhaha’s first five productions: Tunnel Odyssey (Prospect Park), Wrestling with Lesbians (The Tank), R&D: a nightmare in three flowcharts (Dixon Place, The Keep), Heydays (Prospect Park), and the upcoming Soft Boy.
Other directing highlights include Genesis 22 (Governors Island), Conversations with a Dead Bull (The Brick), and The Breasts of Tiresias (Bates College). He has worked as Sound Designer and Assistant Director for Brooke O’Harra, renowned experimental theater director and co-founder of Theatre of the Two-Headed Calf. He also was a creator and Experience Architect on the augmented-reality theatrical experience The Path of Beatrice. He works as a Creative Associate for Michael Counts.
Nick is also a professional stage manager. In addition to working in venues such as La Mama, HERE Arts, Abrons Arts Center, The Kitchen, The Bushwick Starr, and LCT3, he has worked extensively with acclaimed experiential dance-theater company Third Rail Projects: The Grand Paradise (Assistant Stage Manager), Ghost Light (First Assistant Stage Manager, Lincoln Center Theater), Behind The City (Asst. Production Manager, Asst. Stage Manager), and Then She Fell (Asst. Stage Manager Swing). He graduated with a BA in Theatre from Bates College.
