The National Ballet of Canada Closes 2020 Season at a Deficit
Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director, today announced that the 2019/20 season concluded with a deficit for the first time since 2009, a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Annual General Meeting was held today at 7:00 pm virtually from Toronto.
CreativAction To Support Canadian Choreographers And Dance Community
Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director, today announced that through CreativAction, the company will share resources to develop Canadian choreographic talent and support the dance community in Toronto. Curated by Creative Producer of CreativAction and Choreographic Associate Robert Binet, CreativAction has three core activities: Choreographic Workshop, Open Space and Micro-Commissions.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues its 25th Anniversary Season at The Otto M. Budig Theater with "1984", a new adaptation of George Orwell's classic novel by Robert Icke and Duncan MacMillan. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues the Debut Season at The Otto M. Budig Theater with William Shakespeare's Othello. The production will be directed by Christopher V. Williams, who also directed last season's highly-praised A Raisin in the Sun at CSC, and will feature founding company member Nicholas Rose at Iago, as well as newcomer to CSC William Oliver Watkins as Othello, and CSC Resident Ensemble Member Courtney Lucien as Desdemona. The Tempest, the last of William Shakespeare's great romances, will close out Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's run at their theater on Race Street. The production, running April 28 - May 20, 2017, will be co-directed by Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips and Associate Artistic Director Sara Clark, and Director of Creative Education and Outreach Jeremy Dubin.
