Telluride Film Festival Announces the 2018 Program
Telluride Film Festival, presented by the National Film Preserve, today announced its official program selections for the 45th edition of the Telluride Film Festival. Sydney Chamber Opera's New NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND to Premiere at Carriageworks
This August, Carriageworks presents Sydney Chamber Opera's (SCO) new production of composer Jack Symonds's and librettist Pierce Wilcox's Notes from Underground. Directed by Patrick Nolan and designed by Genevieve Blanchett it will be presented over five nights on 13, 15, 17, 19 and 20 August. The last time the company presented this opera it was for their 2011 inaugural production at Sydney's Cellblock Theatre. This production established SCO as one of the most important and distinctive new voices in Australian opera.
Sydney Theatre Company to Present THE HANGING
The Hanging by STC's 2014 Patrick White Fellow, Angela Betzien, receives its world premiere at Sydney Theatre Company (STC) from 28 July to 10 September 2016. STC Resident Director Sarah Goodes and Resident Designer Elizabeth Gadsby are at the helm following their recent success with STC's Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar. The Hanging features Ashleigh Cummings of Network Ten's Puberty Blues alongside one of Australia's most versatile actors, Genevieve Lemon. Returning to STC following his highly regarded performance in last year's Battle of Waterloo by Kylie Coolwell, Luke Carroll completes the cast.

Acclaimed children's author and illustrator, Eric Carle has delighted three generations of readers with his books featuring his distinctive collage art and iconic characters. His most famous book THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR which was first published in 1969, has sold more than 41 million copies worldwide. THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR SHOW will begin performances on January 30, and will celebrate its opening on Sunday, February 7, with an initial run through March 27, 2016 at the 47th Street Theatre (304 W 47th St.). UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive to Open New Building 1/31
The University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) is renowned internationally as one of the best venues for experiencing historical and contemporary world cinema. When BAMPFA opens its new downtown Berkeley building designed by Diller, Scofidio + Renfro to the public on January 31, 2016, filmgoers will be treated to more of the stellar film programming they've come to expect, as well as vastly improved facilities for experiencing and studying the moving image. In its inaugural year, BAMPFA will expand the number of film screenings it presents, hosting programs 52 weeks per year, offering more film programming for K–12 students and lifelong learners, and introducing some limited engagements of selected films. BAMPFA patrons will enjoy two state-of-the-art film theaters (232 and 33 seats, respectively), an exterior LED screen for occasional outdoor screenings, and easier accessibility to the well-appointed Film Library and Study Center, galleries, store, and cafe.
