The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO), led by Music Director Barbara Yahr, opens its 2019-2020 season on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 3:00pm at All Saints Church by taking part in the worldwide Pastoral Project, joining artists from around the world in performances of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, a?oePastorala??, to demonstrate commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Three Finalists Chosen To Compete For ABC Young Performers Awards 2018
After 8 months of intense preparation and memorable performances the three finalists have been chosen who will battle it out to win the coveted title of ABC YOUNG PERFORMER OF THE YEAR. The three finalists are Kevin Chow from Perth (piano); Emily Sun from Concord West (violin) and Oliver Shermacher from Marrickville (clarinet).
Five Young Singers to Compete in Australian Singing Competition Finals
On Sunday 4 June 2017, eleven very impressive young singers competed in the Semi-Finals Concert of the IFAC HANDA AUSTRALIAN SINGING COMPETITION at the Independent Theatre, North Sydney. The semi-finalists were selected from heats held around the country, in New Zealand and in in London.
EarShot & BPO Select Composers for Buffalo Philharmonic New Music Readings, 2/10-11
From February 10-12, 2015, EarShot (the National Orchestral Composition Discovery Network) and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), JoAnn Falletta, Music Director, will present the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra New Music Readings at Kleinhans Music Hall (3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo). On Wednesday, February 11 at 7pm at Kleinhans Hall, the public will have the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing brand new orchestral works to life, as music by the four selected composers is read by the BPO under the baton of associate conductor, Stefan Sanders. The composers – Cody Forrest, Jay Hurst, Yuan-Chen Li, and Scott Ordway – were selected through a national call for scores, and during the Readings will receive feedback from BPO Musicians, Sanders, and mentor composers Robert Beaser of The Juilliard School and artistic director laureate of American Composers Orchestra, Rob Deemer from SUNY Fredonia, and Pulitzer Prize winner Melinda Wagner. Afterwards, the audience is invited to be a part of a discussion Q&A with the young composers, the conductor, and mentor composers.
