Psycho Clan, the creative team behind the NYC Halloween institution, Nightmare Haunted House (in the lower east side for 13 years) in association with Studio 153 announces THIS IS REAL, a heart pounding horror experience by Nightmare Haunted House creator Timothy Haskell. This intimate and unnerving simulated abduction allows for only 8 people to participate at a time. Performances begin on September 8th, 2017 for an open-ended run and take place in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn (an area of NYC one would likely be taken to if they actually were abducted) at 153 Coffey Street, between Ferris and Conover Street. New Canadian Global Music Orchestra Announces Touring and Recording Plans
A major initiative by The Royal Conservatory of Music, which celebrates the cultural diversity and pluralism of our great country as it turns 150, is the formation of the New Canadian Global Music Orchestra. This project, conceived by Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts, is led by Artistic Director David Buchbinder, the Juno Award-winning trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and cultural inventor. More than 100 Canadians hailing from 47 countries applied to be in the orchestra, out of which 12 members have been chosen after three rounds of auditions.
Ron Sexsmith & the TSO Announce Free Concert for Canada Day
As part of the City of Toronto's Canada Days-a citywide celebration for Canada's 150th birthday-the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and guest conductor Jean-Claude Picard join forces with Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith on Saturday, July 1 at 9:45pm. The free concert, taking place at Nathan Phillips Square, also features Canadian folk-pop singer-songwriter Rose Cousins as a special guest. Sexsmith will perform some of his greatest hits, including songs from his 13th album, The Last Rider (Warner Music). The TSO is thrilled to be part of the festivities, which run June 30-July 3 at Nathan Phillips Square, and July 1 in Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke.
