ASTORIA STORIES Celebrates Iconic Locations in Corner of Queens Today

The Award-Winning Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) is pleased to announce the world premiere production of ASTORIA STORIES, directed by Artistic Director Dev Bondarin.

The Award-Winning Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) is pleased to announce the talented group of actors who will bring to life ASTORIA STORIES, directed by Artistic Director Dev Bondarin. ASTORIA STORIES is a collaborative production of plays and musicals celebrating the area of Queens that APAC calls home. The limited engagement will be at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 30-44 Crescent St (@30th Rd), in Astoria, Queens. (*Sunday February 21st @ 7:30pm performance will be at Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35 Avenue.) Performances begin Friday, February19 and continue through Saturday, February27.

Squeaky Bicycle Stages TEN WAYS ON A GUN at Theater for the New City Tonight

Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) will present Squeaky Bicycle Productions' World Premiere of Dylan Lamb's dark comedy Ten Ways on a Gun, directed by Kathryn McConnell (Pop Dies in Vegas) tonight, October 9-25 at the Community Space Theater at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Streets). Performances will be October 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 & 24 at 8pm; October 12 at 7pm; October 11 & 25 at 3pm.Tickets ($15 in advance; $18 at the door) are available online at www.squeakybicycleproductions.com or by calling SmartTix at 212-868-4444. The show runs approximately 2 hours, including intermission.

SUPERMEN Takes Top Prize at DUTF

Supermen, written by Brooklyn-based Adam Esquenazi Douglas, won Best Play at the 13th Annual Season of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF). The festival ran from May 13-30, 2015 at HERE Mainstage in SoHo, NYC and featured 17 plays written by some of America's best emerging writers and theatrical visionaries from California to New York.
Annual BROADWAY CHARITY SONGS to be Recorded for Live Album

Broadway Gives Back has announced that the Third Annual 'Broadway Charity Songs' concert will be recorded by Broadway Records as part of their 'Live from 54 Below' series. The concert will feature new songs written by Sting, Brian Yorkey, Andrew Lippa, Henry Krieger, Pasek & Paul, and others.

Realbuto/Green Songwriting Winners Attended 54 Below's TIM REALBUTO: ALONE (WITH PLENTY OF HELP) as Prize

The winners of the previously announced Tim Realbuto/Jenna Leigh Green songwriting competition are Nathan Brisby and Lizzie Hagstedt, who wrote the original winning piece entitled Mesa Song. As part of their prize, they both received free tickets to Realbuto's star- studded 54 Below show last week, a chance to hear Mr. Realbuto and Ms. Green sing their original song in front of a live audience at 54 Below, as well as a meet and greet with Jenna and Tim after the show in the upstairs greenroom.
Over 125 Playwrights Participate in WRITE OUT FRONT Live at the Drama Book Shop This Month

Theaterspeak will present WRITE OUT FRONT, an installation of over 125 award-winning and up-and-coming playwrights writing new plays in the storefront window of the Drama Book Shop during store hours, today, August 1st - 31st. In each two-hour time slot for WRITE OUT FRONT, a different playwright will write a new play on a laptop, while the screen shot of their computer is projected onto a 42' monitor facing the passersby on the street, making their normally private creative process public.

The collection was developed through Squeaky Bicycle's annual Winter Reading Lab.
