Cast Announced for City Lit's PROMETHEUS BOUND

Full cast and crew have been announced for City Lit's world premiere translation of Aeschylus's theatrically boldest tragedy, PROMETHEUS BOUND, which will begin previews April 27, 2018 and open to the press on Sunday, May 6. This new translation was commissioned by City Lit from Nicholas Rudall, Founding Artistic Director of Court Theater and internationally acclaimed award-winning translator of Greek drama.

Haven Theatre will present its third DIRECTORS HAVEN, the company's ever-growing initiative showcasing the talents of three early career directors. This season, Kristen Johnson directs Vaclav Havel's riveting political satire THE PROTEST, Ian Martin helms Amiri Baraka's THE TOILET, a powerful look at love and empathy, and Lexi Saunders directs Rachel Dubose's sharply funny and biting new play THE DEPARTURE. The three fully-produced productions will run back-to-back in one program. DIRECTOR'S HAVEN 2017 will play October 16 November 1, 2017 at Haven Theatre's resident home, The Den Theatre (2A), 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.

New Musical ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE to Premiere at The Blue Theatre in February

All the World's a Stage is a new musical that tells the beautiful story of life. The actors of this devised production tell personal stories of the many common experiences that connect us: birth, coming of age, love and relationships, career, loss of loved ones, aging and the greatest mystery of them all. The stories are connected by Shakespeare's concept that 'All the world is a stage,' and that even if the details of our lives vary, we all share many of the same great moments.
Lifeline Theatre's MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS - EXTENDED through December 13

To accommodate ticket demand, Lifeline Theatre announces eight added performances of its KidSeries production of Mr. Popper's Penguins, a world premiere musical adaptation by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Robert Kauzlaric, with music and lyrics by George Howe, and directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Paul S. Holmquist, based on the novel by Richard and Florence Atwater. Money is tight and times are tough in the town of Stillwater. With no houses to paint till spring, Mr. Popper is stuck at home daydreaming of adventures in far-off lands, while Mrs. Popper must scrimp and save just to put beans on the table. But with the unexpected arrival of a spirited penguin named Captain Cook, a new horizon opens before them. As a quiet partnership expands into a boisterous flock, the Poppers learn that there's no problem that can't be solved with steady determination, lots of love, and a dash of unconventionality. This production is recommended for children ages five and up (children under two not permitted), and runs one hour with no intermission.

Quest Theatre Ensemble to Open New Revue, 2/28

For five consecutive Saturday nights beginning February 28, 2015, Quest Theatre Ensemble will stage a toe-tapping music revue called, by special reQuest! The company will revisit songs from the canon of their shows produced over the past 13 seasons, including 'Bright Morning Stars,' 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' and 'We Will Rise.' The show will celebrate past Quest shows and features songs, puppetry and dance from classic productions like Evolution/Creation, Drum Circle Pandora and The People's History of the United States.

Quest Theatre Ensemble captures the magic and adventure of Peter Pan with their own sequel to the original story, The People's Return of Neverland, directed by Andrew Park.
