Payne began her career in theater, making her Broadway debut in 1998 in the production of "The Ride Down Mt. Morgan" by Arthur Miller. She received critical acclaim for her performance and went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "The Last Night of Ballyhoo" and "The Public Eye."
In addition to her work on stage, Payne has also appeared in numerous television shows and films. She has had recurring roles on popular TV shows such as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "The Sopranos," and "Boardwalk Empire." Her film credits include "The Devil's Advocate," "The Thomas Crown Affair," and "The Adjustment Bureau."
Despite her success in television and film, Payne has always remained dedicated to the theater. She has continued to work on and off Broadway, earning critical acclaim for her performances in productions such as "The Coast of Utopia" and "The Taming of the Shrew."
