Tyson’s impact on popular culture has been immeasurable. A pillar of the Greenwich Village folk scene from the late ’50s through the ’60s as half of the groundbreaking Ian & Sylvia, the duo headlined NYC’s Carnegie Hall and topped the Billboard charts, all while championing Village contemporaries Bob Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot.
Amanda McBroom to Present CRIMES OF THE HEART at Birdland Jazz Club
BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Amanda McBroom in her new show “Crimes of the Heart” on Monday, May 2 at 7:00 PM. McBroom’s concert will feature songs of passion, politics, and just plain love, written by the likes of Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Leonard Cohen, and of course, Amanda McBroom.
French Institute Alliance Francaise Presents SUMMER OF MICHEL LEGRAND
The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is thrilled to announce that singer/songwriter Amanda McBroom will return to the historic club on September 10th 2018 with "My Favorite Things- Songs I've Longed to Sing.' The selections include words and music from the likes of Annie LaMott, Stephen Sondheim, Fran Landesman, Cole Porter, Jacques Brel, Michele Brourman, and, naturally, McBroom herself. The evening promises to be one to calm the jitters, raise the hackles, and hopefully heal the heart. Showtime is 7:30pm.
