Birth Place: Richmond, Virginia
A native of Richmond, Virginia and a graduate of Florida State University, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance. Dance has been an integral part of her life since the age of 4. However, being an overall entertainer has always been her dream' Her mother decided to put her in ballet, when she noticed that her daughter was always dancing; grocery stores, day care, at home, every canvas was her stage. NaTonia's core training includes the Richmond Ballet (nine years), Henrico High School's Center for the Arts (4 years), and finally the Florida State University (4.5 years). Through these enrichments, she has danced various roles in Richmond Ballet's "The Nutcracker", played the alto saxophone, was a varsity cheerleader, participated in show choir, acted, was the recipient of The Brad Boynton Award for Excellence in the Arts, became the Artistic Director of Phlava Dance Company, danced in numerous shows, as well as studied with various artists from Ron Brown to Suzanne Farrell. Currently living in New York City, NaTonia has recently returned from a two year European & Asian tour of the Broadway Musical WEST SIDE STORY as the featured role of the blonde Puerto Rican "Consuela", performed as Ensemble for Dallas Theater Center's workshop of the premiere musical STAGGER LEE with director Patricia McGregor and choreographer Camille A. Brown. She has danced in local music videos as well as a few of YouTube's very own "THE KEY of AWESOME" parody videos, is featured in commercials; the most recent being Optimum's launch of their FREEWHEEL WIFI Phone Campaign, will be seen as a Dancer in season 2 of the television drama series on CINEMAX directed by Steven Soderbergh entitled: "THE KNICK" and just finished the roles of Stepp Sister/Ensemble in the musical DREAMGIRLS as well as Shirley Charles in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER this past summer at North Shore Music Theatre! The term "Triple Threat" might come to mind once someone experiences the overall creativity and dynamism of her personality. Through the arts NaTonia Monét expresses her character and liberated individuality while following the path God intended her to be on- the path that leads to the stage.
