Regional Orchestra of the Week: Reno Philharmonic, NV
The Reno Philharmonic Association is the largest performing arts organization in the region, with over 60 professional musicians under the leadership of Music Director Laura Jackson. They perform in Reno, Carson Valley, and the Lake Tahoe region in various outdoor and indoor venues. Reaching over 70,000 people each year, the orchestra presents more than 25 concert performances throughout the year, some free for the community.

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) next free OSL@DMC event at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music will feature American composer Sean Shepherd previewing his new commission for St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Shepherd will share his thoughts, insights and inspirations, and members of OSL will play excerpts from his new composition. The world premiere of Mr. Shepherd's Quintet will take place at OSL's next chamber series program, entitled Spin Paris, March 3 - 8, 2013. This is his first composition for OSL.
St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble Will Present SPIN PARIS, 3/3-8
St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble will perform chamber works by three composers who defined French music at the turn of the 20th century, along with a world premiere from American composer Sean Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd is currently working on commissions for the Cleveland Orchestra as a Daniel R. Lewis Composer Fellow, as well as for Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic. His new commission for OSL, Quintet, was inspired by a work of Sergei Prokofiev that was also composed for oboe, clarinet, violin, viola and contrabass and reflects the influences of 1920s Paris in Prokofiev's writing.
