Emilio Sosa Has Been Elected the Chair of the American Theatre Wing
Tony Award-nominated Costume and Fashion Designer Emilio Sosa has been elected the Chair of the American Theatre Wing. Mr. Sosa, in his role as Chair of the Wing’s Board of Directors, will be joined by newly named Vice-Chairs Dale Cendali, Patricia Crown, James Higgins, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Lee Perlman, and Nadine Wong.
Theodore S. Chapin Will Be Honored With the Floria V. Lasky Award
The directors of The Jerome Robbins Foundation today announced that Theodore S. Chapin, President and Chief Creative Officer of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization: A Concord Company, will be honored with the Floria V. Hosted by Ted Chapin and airing on New Jersey's public television NJTV, the series features live performances of America's finest interpreters of the Great American Songbook on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 7pm and Sunday, September 21 at 3pm. Howard Sherman to Step Down from ATW Post in 2011
Howard Sherman, Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing since 2003, today informed the organization that he will not renew his employment agreement beyond its current term, ending on June 30, 2011. The announcement came at a regularly scheduled meeting of the American Theatre Wing's Board of Trustees earlier today.

As Arena Stage begins a new life in its renovated home at the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C., it opens its inaugural season with a classic American musical that similarly embraces life on a new frontier. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! is the first production at the Mead Center and features an all-star cast under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! runs October 22-December 26, 2010 in the Fichandler Stage.

Wayside Theatre Artistic Director Warner Crocker announced the cast and performance schedule for the final offering in the 2008-2009 Subscription season, Cotton Patch Gospel. Written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz, Cotton Patch Gospel features the bluegrass music of recording legend Harry Chapin.
Patron Of NYC Arts Schuyler Garrison Chapin Dies At Age 86
Schuyler Garrison Chapin passed away this past Saturday at age 86. He held positions as assistant general Manager of the Metropolitan Opera as well as the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for NYC.
Chapin was a pilot during WWII and after his return he wed Elizabeth Steinway. Their son is actor Miles Chapin. A long-time friend of Leonard Bernstein, Chapin had a hand in producing the musicians albums.
