BWW Review: THE ATOM ROOM at Circa Theatre Wellington
The Atom Room; a story of our primal need to survive, our innate nature to love and desire to procreate amidst a futurist dilemma of interplanetary habitation. There's a number of firsts to be experienced at Circa Theatre's The Atom Room.
First up it's a World Premiere, written by New Zealand Playwright Philip Braithwaite.
It's also first to create a prologue in virtual reality, which certainly tugged at my heartstrings more than a little. To see Wellington, the city I know and love well, so different from my own reality is disconcerting and literally illuminated the just-as-disconcerting question 'Do we need to find another planet to inhabit in the future
BWW Review: PAN IS DEAD at Auckland Fringe
Myth and dystopia collide in Pan is Dead, a new dark fantasy musical from Theatre of Love.In a society where gender is obsolete and equality achieved, will the desire to dominate bind people in different ways? Are we capable of obtaining utopia?
And who is Pan? A good shepherd or a lascivious predator?
I was pleased that I ventured into the woods to find out for myself.
BWW Review: PARDON ME, ALAN TURING at Samoa House Auckland
Pardon me Alan Turing is an important piece of theatre and has the legs to go a lot further than its Auckland or Wellington season. The story needs to be told on a international stage. This play manages to find the right balance. The humour seduces you, then the themes confront you.
