Missy is transforming the dance world with her choreography’s unique style and musicality. Her New York City credits include: the Broadway and National companies of Cats as Victoria (the white cat), Jesus Christ Superstar, SNL, MTV, VH1, and Broadway Cares and Equity Fights Aids Choreography Award Recipient for The Easter Bonnet.

Performing/choreographing for artists, Mariah Carey, 98 Degrees, Over The Rhine, rapper Rakim, Tarkan (Turkish pop star), Paramount Productions, Cincinnati Ballet, Exhale Dance Tribe “25 to Watch” Dance Magazine, Kings Productions, Orion Pictures, and Tommy Boy Records. Missy has also been featured in numerous publications including the New York Times, Fit Magazine, Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit and Cincinnati's City Beat, Enquirer, Post, and CIN Weekly. She recently won the 2008 CEA Award for Critical Achievement in Choreography, for her work in the original musical, ‘Christmas Yet To Come’
(Know Theater).
Together they have been on faculty at Broadway Dance Center (NYC), and Dean College (MA) as well as teach for Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Conservatory (CCM), NKU, Dance Festivals, Planet Dance Cincinnati, Performing Arts High schools.
Most recently Missy & her partner Andrew Hubbard were of 15 finalists in NYC for the Capezio ACE Choreography Awards out of 400 applicants.
In 2008, Missy choreographed, ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ with Cincinnati Shakespeare Theater. In 2009, received a highly reviewed response for the couples premiere of “Retrospect” for Cincinnati Ballet’s New Works program. In 2010, Hubbard and Lay-Zimmer were nominated for a Princess Grace Award by the Cincinnati Ballet, Excellence in Choreography. In 2011, the couple received rave reviews for their choreography with Cincinnati Ballet’s NEW WORKS program with LIVE music artist Over the Rhine. Also, in 2011 the couple were noted as “Best of Cincinnati” for Dance Instruction and “Who to Look for in 2011” by Cincinnati Enquirer (Arts & Entertainment).
Also in 2011, the artistic duo created a full-length ballet for Cincinnati Ballet’s Infamous Love Songs with International musical genius Over The Rhine.
They are co founders of Exhale Dance Tribe “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine, a nationally recognized contemporary company. Exhale Dance Tribe is a resident company at Broadway Series theater; Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati.
Coming up this Spring Missy and her partner Andrew Hubbard are choreographing a concert with Peter Frampton.
Zimmer understands her creativity is the ultimate form of expression while here on this journey and continues to inspire others to honor their unique artistic expression/path.
