Unicorn Theatre Presents the Regional Premiere of THE REVOLUTIONISTS

The long awaited final production of Unicorn Theatre's 45th season will be the Regional Premiere of THE REVOLUTIONISTS by Lauren Gunderson. Gunderson has topped the American Theatre Magazine list of most produced playwrights for the past several years. The production will feature an all-female cast and will be helmed by kickass director Missy Koonce. The play will feature all-star local actors Vanessa Severo, Chioma Anyanwu, Amy Attaway, & Elise Poehling.
Taylor Mac's HIR Comes to Unicorn Theatre

Chaos reigns supreme in this hilarious reinvention of the classic American family drama. When Isaac returns home from Afghanistan to help take care of his ailing father, he discovers a household in revolt. His mother, Paige, has been liberated from an oppressive marriage, and with the help of her newly "out" transgender teen is passionately dismantling the patriarchy. But in Taylor Mac's shocking and subversive comedy, even the most radical changes can't always free you from the past.
Unicorn Theatre Presents VIETGONE

Award-winning pioneer playwright Qui Nguyen brilliantly chronicles the love story of his parents' meeting in an Arkansas refugee center after fleeing Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. It's a buddy story, an all-American romance, and a motorcycle road-trip adventure that reexamines how we think about the heroes and victims of the Vietnam War. Vietgone skips through time and roams the globe with snarky humor, hip-hop, and lots of sex. It's one ironic, foul-mouthed, bad-ass new play.

BWW Review: MEN ON BOATS at Unicorn Theatre

Kicking off the Unicorn Theatre's 44th season is 'Men on Boats' by Jaclyn Bauhaus (in cooperation with the UMKC advanced MFA program). 'Men on Boats' is an interesting and mostly accurate exploration of John Wesley Powell's 1869 exploration of the Colorado River north of and into the Grand Canyon.

Unicorn Theatre Presents HAND TO GOD

In Robert Askins' Hand to God, when sock puppet, Tyrone, takes on a wickedly funny and shockingly dangerous personality all his own, the introverted teenager, Jason, who created him finds his world turned inside out. Crude, lewd Tyrone has a knack for telling the truth Jason never could and his small Texas town and Christian puppet club will never be the same in this riotous Broadway hit comedy... Warning: Graphic puppet sex and devilish behavior (so leave the kids at home).
