BIO
Mio Nakanishi is a musical theater performer singer/actor/dancer and a dancer/choreographer of Japanese traditional dance. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in NYC and Osaka College of Music in Japan. She performed with Universal Studios in Japan as part of the JAWS presentation. Stage credits include Miss Saigon as Yvonne and Mimi, The King and I as Lady Thiang and Eliza; the play"Ghost of War"as lead-Li Ming Song and a leading woman in the new musical “Angels at work", etc.

Review: AVENUE Q at Cultural Arts Playhouse

When “the sun is shining and it’s a lovely day,” it’s a great day to see a musical. In a world filled with woe, and “every hour going oh, so slow,” it’s the perfect time to take in AVENUE Q at the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset! Directed by Tony Frangipane, this production pulls out all the stops, and has audiences laughing from the pre-show announcement to the curtain call. You’re bound to forget that there are people on stage operating the puppets! Musically directed by Rich Giordano, the well known songs sound better than ever. Choreographed by Danielle Coutieri, the movement seems right out of an episode of Sesame Street.

The workshop took place on Thursday, Oct 3, 2019 at Actors Temple Theatre in NYC. A cast of 9 actors representative of the asian theatre community and members of NAAP, under the direction of Steven Eng, brought an explosive new musical to life at the Actors Temple Theater (339 W 47th St, New York, NY) on Oct 3.

As we approach TONY Awards weekend, we thought we'd catch up with Broadway veteran Baayork Lee, who last week proudly brought her National Asian Artists Project (NAAP) Chorus to the Lillian Booth Actors Home of The Actors Fund, in Engelwood, NJ, on Thursday, May 31. The revered Fund's Home takes care of our own in the industry, whether actor, stagehand, usher, company manager, producer, etc. The Chorus loves going there. This was their second year and, next year, they hope to go twice a year, as it's such a satisfying exchange on both sides. Among the many residents of interest are Fran Liebergall, former assistant to Marvin Hamlisch and Billy Porter's Mom, Cloerinda Ford.
