BIO

Regarded as a pop icon, Cyrus has been recognized for her evolving artistry and image reinventions. She is a daughter of singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and deemed one of the few examples of a child star with a successful musical career as an adult. Cyrus emerged as a teen idol as the title character in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana (2006–2011). As Hannah Montana, she achieved success on the Billboard charts with two number-one soundtracks.

Cyrus's solo career started with the US number-one pop rock albums Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) and Breakout (2008). Her follow-up EP The Time of Our Lives (2009) reached number two in the US. Its lead single "Party in the U.S.A." became one of the best-selling singles of all time in the country and was later certified 14-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Trying to establish a mature image, she explored dance-pop in Can't Be Tamed (2010), which received mixed reviews. Cyrus later signed to RCA Records and took a new artistic direction with the hip hop and R&B-influenced Bangerz (2013). Her fifth chart-topping album, it yielded the hit single "We Can't Stop" and her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one "Wrecking Ball". She then dabbled in experimental music on Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), embraced country pop on Younger Now (2017), and delved into rock genres on Plastic Hearts (2020); the last of which garnered critical acclaim. Shifting to Columbia Records in 2021, Cyrus released her eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation (2023). Its lead single "Flowers" topped charts internationally, marked her second US number-one song, and won two Grammy Awards.

As an actress, Cyrus starred in the films Bolt (2008), Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Last Song (2010), LOL (2012), and So Undercover (2013). On television, she was the subject of the documentary Miley: The Movement (2013), led the miniseries Crisis in Six Scenes (2017), served as a coach on two seasons of The Voice (2016–2017), and starred in the "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" episode of Black Mirror (2019). She also hosted the holiday special Miley's New Year's Eve Party (2021–2022), and appeared in the documentary concert special Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) (2023).

Cyrus has received numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, five Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and eight Guinness World Records. She was ranked as one of the greatest artists of all time, the ninth-greatest Billboard 200 female artist, and among the greatest pop stars of the 21st century by Billboard. Cyrus has featured in listicles such as the Time 100 (2008 and 2014), Forbes Celebrity 100 (2010 and 2015), and 30 Under 30 (2014 and 2021). She is the eighth-highest-certified female digital singles artist by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and one of the most successful artists of the 2010s, according to Billboard. Outside of music and acting, Cyrus founded the non-profit Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014, which focuses on the LGBTQ community and youth homelessness, and was supported by the web video series Backyard Sessions (2012–2023).

Liora Kats’ Journey From Nickelodeon to Feature Films
by Team BWW - Feb 25, 2025

When it comes to child television stars, there seem to be two paths they take following childhood stardom: they fall off the map altogether, or they try their hand at transitioning into edgier, more mature content. It is incredibly rare to see a young performer do well in the latter path, as infamous cases like Miley Cyrus or even Jojo Siwa are far more common. That’s why the story of Liora Kats’ journey from becoming a Nickelodeon star to performing in Troma films and on stage in New York is all the more striking.
Review: MISS I-DOLL, The Other Palace
by Cindy Marcolina - Feb 22, 2025

Entertainment is rotten business. Never mind all the allegations against big (normally male) names that regularly appear on our screens, superstardom is a road paved with dubious morals and forced subduedness. From Demi Lovato to Miley Cyrus, from One Direction to Boyzone, regardless of your gender, the industry will chew you up and spit you out.
