Fountain Theatre to Present 'Hyper-Staged' Reading of Lisa Loomer's ROE
The Fountain Theatre will once again jump into action with a “hyper-staged” reading of Roe, a powerful, poignant and often humorous play by Lisa Loomer that cuts through the headlines to reveal the real-life women behind Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that gave women the right to safe, legal abortion.
World Premiere of DETAINED Announced At The Fountain Theatre
How do families stay together, even when they are kept apart? The Fountain Theatre presents a gripping new docudrama, a compilation of true stories that explores the rippling impact of mass deportations on families. The world premiere of Detained, written by 2021 Lorraine Hansberry Award-winning playwright France-Luce Benson and directed by Mark Valdez, winner of the 2021 Zelda Fichandler Award, opens February 19 at the Fountain Theatre.
Center Theatre Group Announces Eight New Board Members
Center Theatre Group has added eight new members to its Board of Directors over the course of this season, as the organization continues building strong support from across the community throughout the prolonged closures of its theatres as a result of the pandemic, announced Board President Kiki Ramos Gindler. Growing its Board to 50 members, its newest dedicated supporters are Michelle A. Avan, Wendy Chang, Noah Francis, Ron Gillyard, Max Gousse, Marsha Tauber Sallai, Richard Weitz and Hattie Winston.

Center Theatre Group has welcomed four new passionate supporters of theatre to its Board of Directors, announced Board President Kiki Ramos Gindler. They include Jill Chozen, a theatre investor, philanthropist and past trustee of University Synagogue; George V. Hausler, an executive with J.P. Morgan; Philip Pavel, Managing Director of the NoMad Los Angeles Hotel; and Bonnie Vitti, President of the Louis and Harold Price Foundation, which was founded by her grandfather, Harold Price.

Block Party 2019 will remount Theatre of NOTE's "For The Love Of (or, the roller derby play)," Skylight Theatre Company's "Rotterdam" and Antaeus Theatre Company's "Native Son." Each production will have a two-week run with 12 performances. The deadline to apply to Center Theatre Group's 2017-2018 Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre has been extended to June 6, 2017. Block Party aims to highlight some of the remarkable work being done on other stages throughout Los Angeles by fully producing three previously staged productions at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. The new deadline to apply to the 2017-2018 Block Party program is June 6, 2017.
