BIO

Michelle Lim is a freelance dancer, specializing in contemporary dance for stage and film. She graduated in 2012 from Singapore’s first pre-tertiary arts institution, the School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA), as part of their pioneering class. In 2013, she moved to New York City as the first Singaporean dancer at The Juilliard School. She also trained at Springboard Danse Montréal, AXIS Connect, the Movement Invention Project, and BODYTRAFFIC.

She has performed works by Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, Mark Morris, Takehiro Ueyama, Matthew Neenan, Loni Landon, Zvi Gotheiner, Roy Assaf, Peter Chu, Andrea Pena, Young Soon Kim, Robin Aren, Brandon Coleman and Christian Denice, across venues across the United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and multiple digital platforms.

She has had the joy of performing with companies such as The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Second Company and WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company.

Michelle has also taken on roles beyond the stage, Assistant Director and Dance Captain for the Off-Broadway production of COMFORT WOMEN: A New Musical.

As a choreographer, Michelle is passionate about exploring the complexities of human experiences: psychology, intimacy, and culture. Michelle is currently creating and presenting her work under MVL + Artists.
