Mauckingbird Theatre Company to Present Cole Porter Celebration 'HOT 'IN COLE' in 2015
Mauckingbird Theatre Company begins its 2015 season with a celebration of one of America's greatest composers and songwriters, Cole Porter. Hot 'N Cole: A Cole Porter Celebration, runs January 13-February 1, at the Skybox at the Adrienne, 2030 Sansom Street. Opening night is January 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students. Mauckingbird Theatre Company Presents BAD SEED, 1/25-27
Mauckingbird Theatre Company, best known for its clever, poignant reflection on classic works through a gay lens, takes on a new kind of classic with a staged reading of the 1950s play Bad Seed by Maxwell Anderson. Directed by Mauckingbird Artistic Director Peter Reynolds, the reading includes performances by Barrymore Award winner Amanda Schoonover as 9-year-old Rhoda Penmark, the titular "bad seed," and Michelle Eugene as her suffering mother Christine Penmark. The Bad Seed runs for one weekend only, January 25-27, at the Off-Broad Street Theater. Philadelphia's own Martha Graham Cracker will serve as hostess for the reading, which benefits Mauckingbird, Philadelphia's award-winning professional gay-themed theatre company.
Tamara Anderson of The Media Theatre's HAIRSPRAY Creates THE VOICES PROJECT
Tamara Anderson, of The Media Theatre's 'Hairspray', is an actress with a mission. Onstage, her role as Motormouth Maybelle assists in bringing integration to Baltimore and offstage she is the creator of a theatre piece, 'The Voices Project', that serves as a platform for dropout prevention to shine a light on the dire need for sustainable programs for individuals who self select to leave or are pushed out of school.
Media Theatre Announces HAIRSPRAY Cast
Delaware County's first professional production of the Tony winning musical Hairspray is at The Media Theatre this fall (September 26-November 4). Jesse Cline, Artistic Director for the professional music theatre company, recently announced the cast for the upbeat production.
