MAC Award-Winner MICHELLE DOWDY first took New York by storm as Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray, racking up over 400 performances. She has gone on to play the role internationally and at Dallas Theatre Center. Most recently, she was seen as scene stealer Madame Thenardier in the National Tour of Les Miserables.
A nightlife and cabaret favorite, Michelle has performed all over New York in some of the most prestigious venues in town, from 54 Below to Town Hall.
​In her debut solo album and critically-acclaimed show, A Brass Act, Michelle lends her powerhouse vocals to hits by her favorite 50’s & 60’s divas as well as classic Broadway tunes such as I Can Cook, Too and The Man That Got Away. Album available here on iTunes.
This past Christmas, Michelle released a holiday single collaboration with Jordan Wolfe, My Christmas Dream.
Michelle is also a passionate advocate for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Over the past decade, she has raised thousands of dollars for the cause as part of Broadway Bares, founded by her former Hairspray choreographer Jerry Mitchell.
