Michael Thanh Tran (he/him) is a multidisciplinary theatre artist currently based in New York City. He is passionate about creating engaging, innovative, and thought-provoking work that will resonate with diverse and multi-generational audiences. Michael understands the role that art plays in social justice strives to begin his work at the intersection of art and activism. He strives to reimagine the American Theatre to not just be a space of equity, but also liberation and empowerment. Through his work, I hopes to cultivate greater intersectional diversity in the performing arts sector, nurture growth within communities, find new ways to foster audience engagement, affect new change through innovative theatrical exploration and connect diverse, multi-generational audiences. As an actor, he has performed with The MUNY, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival (w/ Andre De Shields), and Lyceum Theatre, among others. He is a certified Intimacy Captain through Intimacy Coordinators of Color (ICOC) with Ann James and a proud member of the Theatre Producers of Color 2023 Cohort. Michael holds a BFA in Acting from Webster Conservatory and is a MFA Acting Candidate from NYU Graduate Acting.
