IN STEP WITH: THE HOLDUP's Frank Vince at Spotlighters Theater
his is the last week for director Michael Spellman's The Holdup, now at the Spotlighters Theater (www.spotlighters.org). I caught up with actor Frank Vince who portrays "The Outlaw" in this "inventive, picaresque play that mingles humor and sentiment," as noted on the Spotlighters website. I've had the opportunity to review Frank's work in the past, such as his performance as Roy Cohn in Angels in America, and have "strode the boards" with him when I played Jimmy Tomorrow to Frank's Rocky in the Fells Point Corner Theater production of "The Iceman Cometh' this past winter. In this interview, Frank discusses his love of acting, his time at the Spotlighters, and his role as "The Outlaw'

Vagabond Players Presents ABDUCTING DIANA, 6/3-26
Abducting Diana by Dario Fo, and adapted by Stephen Stenning opens June 3 at the Vagabond Players. Directed by Michael Spellman, this ribald and risqué comedy really hits its mark. A high powered media mogul is kidnapped, but the incompetent abductors are quickly mired in a mess of mishaps. Still it is never clear who is getting the upper hand in this riotous romp that skewers all in its path. This farce is full of never ending laughter.
FPCT Presents REASONS TO BE PRETTY
reasons to be pretty begins with what is probably the most intense, expletive-driven, flesh-searing argument in the fiery LaBute canon, delivered by a very, very angry young woman to her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. But after this first burst of shouting, Mr. LaBute lowers the volume and asks us to listen carefully to the way people speak in the early 21st century and to acknowledge the reflexive, culturally conditioned cruelty in much of what we say. Greg, the play's hero and the recipient of the initial verbal attack, begins listening with a new set of ears, not only to what everyone else says, but also to what he says. A man who always brings a book with him to work by Poe, Hawthorn or Washington Irving, Greg applies a close reader's interest to the less fluent speech of his friends and begins to realize just how fraught everyday communication is.
Irrational Streak
Absurdly, sublimely ridiculous playwright Charles Ludlam's salute to acting, the relationship between fathers and
sons--especially when the father and son are both actors with an affinity for 'Hamlet'--is the stuff and nonsense of 'Stage Blood' now at the Spotlighters Theater in downtown Baltimore.
