BIO

Michael was born and raised in Salford, Manchester where he trained as a Chef and left college with a BTEC in Musical Theatre. He then packed up and moved to London after being offered a place at RADA, graduating in 2010. In 2009 whilst in his second year at RADA, he received the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award. Upon graduating RADA with a BA in Acting, Michael went straight in to the cast of Hamlet at the National Theatre to make his professional theatre debut under the direction of Nicholas Hytner. Michael’s passion for new musical theatre writing has taken him to every corner of London performing in several concerts and workshops for Mercury Musical Developments. Michael is delighted to be making his West End debut working with this incredibly talented cast and creative team. Michael would like to dedicate all of his work to the memory of Jack Hall and Johnny Kerrigan.

Twelve year old Harrison Dowzell from Nottinghamshire is to become the thirtieth boy to play the title role of Billy Elliot in the West End. Harrison, who joins the cast of Billy Elliot the Musical today, 14 May 2012, will alternate the role of Billy with Harris Beattie (13 year old from Aberdeen, Scotland), Kaine Ward (13 years old from Hertfordshire), Ryan Collinson (13 years old from Southport) and Adam Vesperman (13 years old from Seattle, Washington, USA) He will be the 65th boy to play the role worldwide, including Jamie Bell who played Billy Elliot in the award-winning film.
