Bond Street Theatre has been awarded its second Global Connections 'In the Lab' grant by the Theatre Communications Group (TCG) in a nationwide competition. This support allows the company to continue its collaborative adaptation of Ben Johnson's Volpone with Thukhuma Khayeethe (Art Travelers) and prepare its world premiere in Yangon this spring ahead of an upcoming US tour.

Members of Bond Street Theatre, performing for children in the refugee schools, met a dauntless group of Afghan actors who dared to present live theatre despite the restrictions of the times. This group was Exile Theatre.

Parts Monty Python and The Twilight Zone, The Mechanical transplants the outcast creature from Mary Shelley's novel 'Frankenstein' into the true story of a sensational chess-playing robot built in the late 18th century. Known as The Turk, the chess-playing automaton amazed royalty, foreshadowed computers, and duped the public with its clever design.
