From today, November 10, 2015, to April 3, 2016, the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) presents DEAD TREEZ, the first monographic New York museum exhibition by artist Ebony G. Patterson, who splits her time between Kingston, Jamaica, and Lexington, Kentucky.

Eine tiefschwarze Operette wollte Stephen Sondheim mit seinem 'Sweeney Todd. The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' schreiben - und das ist ihm durchaus gelungen. Mit acht Tonys wurde die Urauffuhrung von SWEENY TODD am Broadway 1979 ausgezeichnet. Sondheim legt hier eine grotesk pervertierte Opernhandlung vor, die einen Barbier, ein Mundel, bose Heiratsabsichten und grausige Vergeltungen in den Mittelpunkt stellt: Sweeney will erlittenes Unrecht rachen und mutiert dabei selbst zum Bosewicht a la Michael Kohlhaas. Zum 85. Geburtstag des Komponisten blickt das Theater Freiburg wieder auf diesen Klassiker, der dort vor 30 Jahren seine deutsche Erstauffuhrung erfahren hat.
GREAT GATSBY Among Cannes Festival Official Selections; Full List Announced!

The Cannes Film Festival has announced the 66th Official Selection titles. The films were selected from among 1,858 submissions this year. Opening the festival will be Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated reboot of THE GREAT GATSBY while Jerome Salle's ZULU will close the festivities.
NEA Awards 26.68M to Arts Organizations Nationwide

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman today announced the latest round of NEA funding totaling $26.68 million awarded through 1,057 grants to nonprofit national, regional, state, and local organizations nationwide. This also includes the NEA's most recent class of Creative Writing Fellows.
