Music and Dance from Canada & Finland, Immersive Vivier Experience and More Set for Soundstreams' 35th Season

Artistic Director Lawrence Cherney is delighted to announce Soundstreams' 35th season. The main stage series features five sensational shows: Northern Encounters, with music and dance from Canada and Finland performed by the Lapland Chamber Orchestra; Musik fur das Ende, which is an immersive experience of iconic Quebecois composer Claude Vivier's transformative work; Tan Dun's Water Passion after St. Matthew, a contemporary reimagining of Bach's masterpiece; Freddy's Tune, featuring cross-genre inspirations from the famous theme King Frederick gifted to Bach; and The Little Match Girl Passion, the provocative Pulitzer Prize-winning work by David Lang.

DanceWorks, Toronto's longest running contemporary dance series, proudly presents Toronto's tiger princess dance projects(tpdp) with an evening of two world premieres, each exploring identity in different ways. Choreographed by acclaimed tpdp artistic director Yvonne Ng, her solo In Search of the Holy Chop Suey and her work for a trio, Zhong Xin, run as a compelling double bill tonight, November 24, through Saturday, November 26 at 8pm at Harbourfront Centre Theatre as part of the NextSteps series. Tickets are now on sale.

Jillian Peever Dance to Premiere THE MYSTERY OF MR. LEFTOVERS

Jillian Peever Dance Creations proudly announces the world premiere of The Mystery of Mr. Leftovers, a contemporary performance piece that merges dynamic dance with outrageous theatrics - and the first ever, full-length solo work performed by Jillian Peever. Acclaimed dance artist Sharon B. Moore (K.M. Hunter Award nominee, triple Dora nominee) choreographs and directs, while dance icon Peggy Baker (Governor General's Award for Lifetime Achievement) acts as Peever's solo-performance mentor.
Smith & Sholdice's FURY Premieres at The Blyth Festival Tonight

The Blyth Festival continues its 41st Season with the world premiere of a new musical, Fury, written by Peter Smith with music by Samuel Sholdice. Directed by Micheline Chevrier, Fury plays at Blyth Memorial Hall from tonight, July 29 to September 12.

2014 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Announces National Awardees; Festival Set for 4/14-19

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced national awardees of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Individuals from across the United States are recognized for outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 7 through March 1, 2014. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the 46th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), April 14-19, 2014.

This exceptional full-length work runs Thursday, February 20 to Saturday, February 22 at Harbourfront Centre's Fleck Dance Theatre.
