Michael Gnat is an inaugural IT Award nominee and a 2009 NYTheatre.com Person of the Year. Recent roles include Al/Marbury/BB in Eddie Antar’s Drama Desk–nominated 'The Navigator'; Anton Chekhov in John McKinney’s 'The Chekhov Dreams'; and Edwin Booth in Bob Manus’s 'A Man Walks into a Bar' (all IT-winning or ?nominated plays; WorkShop Theater). Other stage highlights: besieged Jack Blake in Mike Folie’s thriller 'Slave Shack' (Algonquin); Malvolio in 'Twelfth Night' (DrillingCo.); 19thC performer T.D. Rice in Henry Meyerson’s 'Jump Jim Crow' (MITF); and homeless Pigeon in Michael Niederman’s T'he Riverside Symphony' (Planet Connections, “Outstanding Actor” award). Feature film: white-collar criminal “Wall Street” Jimmy in 'Off Jackson Avenue'; would-be coke dealer Tim in 'Bobby G. Can’t Swim'. WILD ORCHIDS And ROSARY HILL By Heather J. Violanti To Debut 9/10-16 In TNC's Dream Up Fest

Two short one-acts, "Wild Orchids" and "Rosary Hill" by Heather J. Violanti, will debut September 10 to 16 in a double bill presented by Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival. "Wild Orchids" is a film noir-esque, feminist, and fictionalized take on 1940's Hollywood, where a secretary has a chance encounter with William Faulkner that may change both their lives. In "Rosary Hill,' two gentle nuns tend to their garden in upstate New York but a closer look at the harsh Mother Superior reveals they may not be all that they seem. Both plays feature canny, nuanced female characters who have much more going on under the surface than meets the eye. Jennifer Sandella directs.

Additional performances are February 24 at 6:15PM and February 27 at 6:00PM. The play runs approximately 85 minutes.
