Rejoice! A Festivus (for The Rest Of Us) Cabaret Comes To Vancouver
Festivus is a secular holiday 'traditionally' celebrated on December 23rd as an alternate to the pressures and commercialism of the holiday season. Originally created by writer Daniel O'Keefe, Festivus entered popular culture after it was made the focus of a 1997 episode of Seinfeld called 'The Strike' which O'Keefe's son Dan O'Keefe co-wrote. The non-commercial holiday celebrations, as depicted on Seinfeld, include a Festivus dinner, an unadorned aluminum Festivus pole, airing of grievances, Feats of Strength and declaring 'Festivus miracles' (which are actually easily explained events).
