The Outre Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2017/18 season, George Orwell's 1984, in its new home at the recently opened Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The play 1984 is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel published in 1949. In 2005 the novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, cold war, and Newspeak have permanently entered into common use since its first publication.

According to Law360, Joseph Meli and Advance Entertainment LLC are again headed to court on fraud charges. WAKE, written by New York-based Carey Crim, will have its west coast premiere presented by LA's critically acclaimed SeaGlass Theatre company today, April 26 through Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the beautiful Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena, CA, it was announced by Ovation nominated actor and SeaGlass Theatre Managing Director Paul Stroili, along with SeaGlass Artistic Director Kimberly Van Luin. WAKE'S five all-star member ensemble will feature Nancy Berggren, Alison Blanchard, Michael Connors, Allie Costa, and Lauren McCormack. Matt Kirkwood has been set to direct.

PERSOL MAGNIFICENT OBSESSIONS: 30 stories of craftsmanship in film, a three-year exhibition series presented by Persol, celebrates stories of obsessive workmanship behind some of cinema's most iconic and compelling on-screen moments. The second installment of the exhibit will be on view from June 14 through August 19 at Museum of the Moving Image and will explore the work of ten esteemed filmmakers, designers, and technicians through a presentation of rarely seen props and costumes, behind-the-scenes research notes, sketches, video interviews, and materials used in the pre-production process.
