BIO

Michael C. Anderson, Baritone, is a native of York County. The son of Richard and Marjorie Anderson, Michael holds a bachelor of arts in History cum laude from Dickinson College. After undergraduate studies, Michael earned his Juris Doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law. He is currently employed as Vice President and Division General Counsel with the Snyder’s-Lance, Inc., the manufacturer and distributor of Snyder’s of Hanover®, Lance®, Cape Cod®, Pop Secret®, Kettle®, Late July® and Snack Factory® families of products.

Despite the rigors of practicing law, Michael continues to pursue his love of performing, and has studied voice with Armen Boyajian. Michael has been featured as a soloist or principle with the Amato Opera Company, Harrisburg Opera Association, Theater Harrisburg, Lancaster Opera Company, Central Pennsylvania Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, York Oratorio Society, the Harrisburg Choral Society, and York Little Theater.

Michael has portrayed many roles of the stage including the King in The King & I; Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd; Germont in La Traviata; Scarpia in Tosca; Sharpless in Madama Butterfly; Amonasro in Aida; Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana; Count di Luna in Il Trovatore; Enrico in Lucia di Lamermoor; Marcello in La Boheme; Silvio and Tonio in Pagliacci; Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi; The Count in Le Nozze di Figaro; Belcore in Elixir of Love; and the Father in Hansel and Gretel. No stranger to oratorio, Michael has performed as the bass soloist in Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn's Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, Durufle’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Brahm’s Requiem, Vaughan-William’s Sea Symphony, Bach’s Weihnachts Oratorium, and Dvorak’s Te Deum. Michael was honored as the recipient of the Special Judge’s Prize for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Philadelphia District, a regional finalist in the nationwide MacAllister Awards for Opera Singers, and as a finalist in the New York Oratorio Society Soloist Competition.
