BIO

MICHAEL BIELLO (Lyricist) and DAN MARTIN (Composer) are life-partners and longtime collaborators who have created a unique body of work in musical theatre. Their shows have enjoyed success in Chicago where Bailiwick's production of Breathe won the After Dark Award for Outstanding New Work and where they premiered their revue Q and their musical The Cousins Grimm. Breathe and Q have been produced in a variety of U.S. cities including Philadelphia, Richmond, Omaha, and Dallas. Developmental readings of The Cousins Grimm include the York Theatre, the New York Musical Theatre Festival (Anna Sosenko Trust Award), and the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center’s Cabaret and Performance Conference in Waterford, CT. Biello and Martin’s songs have been widely performed and have garnered honors and awards including: Table 3 – sung by Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba at Lincoln Center as part of the Bound for Broadway concert; You Do Not Know Me – nominated for a GLAMA Award for Best Theatre Song; What We Believe is Right – performed for an audience of 300,000 at the GLBT March On Washington; and The Dance - a film version of which has been screened on six continents and is in the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art. A new recording of Table 3 by Tony nominee Erin Dilly is featured as part of the BMI Workshop Podcast and is included in the 2009 BMI Workshop Songbook. Martin and Biello live and work in Philadelphia and in New York where they are members of The Dramatists Guild and the BMI/Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theater Workshop. www.biellomartin.com
