Krissy Keefer's Dance Brigade will kicks off its 50th Anniversary Season with a seven-city West Coast Tour January 9-19 of A Woman's Song for Peace, a new dance theater work featuring original live music and performances by iconic musician and activist Holly Near, seminal queer feminist singer-songwriter Ferron, and groundbreaking Afro-Caribbean jazz artist Christelle Durandy, intertwined with Dance Brigade's fierce, nuanced choreography.

For this event, composers are asked to write music with elements that defy chronology or are incongruous in the present, including surprising combinations of genres, timbres, and instruments, etc.

Duke Ellington will be celebrated on Sunday, May 21 from 2-4pm with the return of a FREE, annual outdoor concert commemorating the jazz great's birthday. This year's event, at the Duke Ellington Statue, 5th Avenue and 110th Street in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood, will also celebrate National Tap Dance Day, which takes place yearly on May 25, the birthday of tap legend Bill Bojangles Robinson.
