Staples Players Presents BACK TO THE 80S
Revisit the totally awesome 80's with the Class of 1984 at William Ocean High School in this nostalgic romp through the greatest hits of the decade. Most of the cast members in this high-energy show are actually in the classes of 2018 through 2023, but they've fallen as hard for the snappy songs of the 80's as the big-haired teens of the day did. One of those teens, a bonafide 1984 graduate, will take the stage for the first time in 35 years, as the show's narrator. Back to the 80's runs from July 12 to 14 and is co-directed by David Roth (SHS '84...hint, hint) and Kerry Long (SHS '97).

About the Book
'Rarely has the search for the heart of fatherhood been so deeply and richly explored as it is in 'Fathers' Wisdom.' -William Younglove, Teacher Supervisor, California State University, Long Beach, Calif.
'Fathers' Wisdom' marks the culmination of a 14-year journey for Jordan who, inspired by her father Russ Jordan, began gathering interviews and essays from fathers around the globe. Fifty interviews later, the book was privately launched in June 2015, and the event was attended by several of the dads, including Holocaust survivor Bernard Sayone, who survived Auschwitz as a boy, after promising his doomed father that he would live to tell the world what happened there.
Jordan says writing this book transformed her life: 'I have experienced a deeper appreciation for adoption and foster parenting...yoga and meditation...World War II...the Holocaust...and even healthy eating.'
'There isn't just one way to be a father.' -Pastor Bayless Conley, Cottonwood Church, 'Fathers' Wisdom' Interview
Jordan's book features insights from a wide variety of dads, including John Solheim, the C.E.O. of the family-run Arizona golf equipment manufacturing company PING; Paleo Magazine Editor, Caine Credicott; and Congressman Alan Lowenthal. Two views of the Japanese American World War II experience and how they affected parenting are represented by James Tanaka who was 'interned' at a U.S. 'Relocation Camp,' and Jim Makino who fought with the 'Go for Broke' unit in heroic battles.
Each chapter concludes with an uplifting author suggestion of how to honor the wisdom shared by each dad, such as:
'Today let's be people that others can count on.'
Jordan dedicates this book to her late father who 'inspired me to write it and to all the father who have forever blessed my life with their stories of love, kindness and heart.'
