by Tyler Peterson - Sep 25, 2013
Fuse announced today that Big Freedia has set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD(R) for most people twerking simultaneously. Earlier this afternoon, Fuse and Big Freedia took over Herald Square at 34th Street and 6th Avenue to host the Record Breaking Booty Shaking event that welcomed 358 dancers, who hit the floor and shook their booties for two consecutive minutes in the center of Manhattan. While twerking has recently gone mainstream and created quite the pop culture phenomenon, the dance actually originates from the 20+ year old New Orleans Bounce scene, of which Big Freedia is the undisputed queen. Now she can add record holder to her title, as Big Freedia officially has set and holds this GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title. The event was to help promote Big Freedia's upcoming new television series - Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce - which is set to premiere on Fuse on Wednesday, October 2 at 11p/10c.
