BIO

After working regional theatre for several years, Matt spent the last decade as an actor in theatre, camera and voiceover work in Seattle, as well as working as a theatre educator for youth. At Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre he had the joy of working on pre-Broadway productions of SCANDALOUS (then called Saving Aimee), Catch Me If You Can and A Christmas Story (You can hear him on the original cast recording as Santa.) He also worked at the 5th on the world premiere production of Disney’s Aladdin. At Seattle’s Village Theatre, Matt portrayed the role of Sam Phillips in Million Dollar Quartet as the show made its way to New York. At Village, Matt also worked on several other new musicals by New York composers including Iron Curtain and Chasing Nicolette (written by SCANDALOUS composer David Friedman). At Seattle Children’s Theatre, Matt got to fly and talk to balloons and dance with “pickle cars” as he took part in developing and debuting adaptations of children’s classics like Goodnight Moon and Richard Scarry’s Busytown. Other favorite roles include Howard in Iron Curtain, Harold Hill in The Music Man, Cosmo in Singin' in the Rain, The Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, Uncle Ernie in Tommy, P.T. Barnum in Barnum, Speed in The Odd Couple, and Mortimer in Arsenic and Old Lace. Matt extends his deepest thanks and gratitude to Kathie, David, David, David, Lauren and Joel for this opportunity. He dedicates his performances here to the brave artists and theaters of Seattle who have been working so hard for years to bring new shows to life in the American musical theatre world.

BWW Review: Village Theatre's GUYS & DOLLS Has the 'Numbers' but Not the 'Story'

There's a reason that Frank Loesser's a?oeGuys & Dollsa?? has endured all these years and keeps coming back, it's a near perfect musical. It's fun and frothy with that rare breed of songs that all move the story along and tell a story of their own. But with these songs, and because of them, you need a love story that reads true, connections with everyone on stage, and storytelling in the staging and choreography as well as in the dialog and lyrics. And while the current production at Village Theatre has some numbers that worked and some wonderful performers, it lacked those three elements making the show a nice collection of performances with no spark or cohesion.
