Matt Hoverman currently writes for the PBS Kids multi-Emmy Award Winning animated series Arthur (Seasons 17-20) and Wonder Rangers (WGBH). Also a playwright, his comedies Who You See Here and The Glint are both optioned for Broadway by Nelle Nugent, and have starred (in a series of developmental readings and workshops) some of Hollywood’s premiere talent, including a recent Broadway reading starring Beau Bridges, Jean Smart, Michael McKean and SNL's Cecily Strong. Other plays include In Transit (FringeNYC Best Playwriting Award), The Student (Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival Winner), The Audience (co-book writer, Drama Desk Best New Musical Award Nominee), Christmas Shorts: 5 Merry Little Comedies (published by Samuel French and quickly becoming a new holiday staple at theatres across the country) and Searching For God In Suburbia: 7 Tales from Beyond… The City (The Acting Company Write On! Series). He has been produced/developed by the La Jolla Playhouse, the Huntington Theatre, The Transport Group, Naked Angels, The Barrow Group, City Theatre, the Ojai Playwrights Conference and the Edward Albee Foundation, to name a few. Also a renowned teacher, Matt has midwived hundreds of solo shows in his popular acting/writing workshops, including winners of 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 & 2013 FringeNYC Best Solo Show Awards. This work was the subject of a NY Times feature article and the documentary Solo by Shannon Romines. He has also taught acting and writing to students from the elementary school to college levels, as a teaching artist with the University of California, San Diego, Princeton University, Theatre for a New Audience, The Acting Company, and more. As an actor, is credits include The Acting Company national tour, Yale Rep, the La Jolla Playhouse, Late Night w/Conan O’Brien, and many villainous voices on the cartoons Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sonic X, Shaman King, The WinX Club, Viva Pinata, Dinosaur King, One Piece, The Harlock Saga, Cubix, Chaotic and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
