BWW Review: Truth is questioned in the play BARABBAS at Theater For The New City
According to the Bible, there was a prevailing Passover custom in Jerusalem which allowed a crowd to commute a prisoner's death sentence. When Pontius Pilate asked, they chose Barabbas to be released. Jesus of Nazareth was then crucified. Playwright Will T. F. Carter's first play updates this story to a Peruvian prison in 2021.

Theater for the New City, the Pulitzer Prize winning community cultural center that produces over thirty premieres of new American plays each year, is pleased to announce the world premiere of Will T.F. Carter's new play Barabbas, directed by Eduardo Machado.
THE SHAKESPEARE CONSPIRACY Begins Previews At Theater Row, 4/20
Fledgling Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Matthew Dalton Lynch has announced dates for the New York Premiere of Ted Bacino and Rufus Cadigan's THE SHAKESPEARE CONSPIRACY, a new play (based on Mr. Bacino's book of the same title) that explores the greatest literary deception of all time. The production is directed by Jeremy Karafin and will run April 20th - May 5th in the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). The official opening will be on Tuesday, April 27 at 7:30PM. It will run as part of the first annual BATTLE OF THE BARDS: THE CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE FESTIVAL, a new six week festival that features two original plays about William Shakespeare & Christopher Marlowe and chronicles the life that Marlowe would have lived as a fugitive, hiding not only his gay sexuality, but also his identity as the actual author of Shakespeare's works.

Poetic Theater's BACK Begins Previews Tonight
Poetic Theater Productions, under the direction of Co-Artistic Directors' Jeremy Karafin and Alex Mallory, has announced that it will stage the world premiere of BACK, a new play written by Mickey Bolmer and directed by Andrew Willis-Woodward, that celebrates and mourns the history of Greenwich Village through the lives and stories of Frank O'Hara, Cookie Mueller, Hibiscus, Nan Goldin and Aaron Burr, among others. BACK features production design by Rachel Klein and begins previews tonight, October 17th at 8PM at the cell, 338 West 23rd St. The official opening is on Thursday, October 23rd at 8PM.
